Curriculum Map
This Curriculum is an 8 unit long study spanning from the American revolution and early America to the early 20th century and World War I. The goal is to familiarize students with American history and engage them in the practice of analyzing primary sources, debating ideas and thinking critically about history.
Unit Map
This unit map contains unit 7 out of the curriculum. It focuses on industrial innovation, westward expansion, and the political and social change experienced through these movements up until the early 20th century preparing for WWI in the next unit. The NC standards used to guide this unit focus on students developing claims (inquiry 1.1.4) and communicating ideas through academic discussion (inquiry 1.1.5).
Lesson Plans 1-3
Using backward design methods I wanted to create engaging lessons for students while meeting state standards for social studies. throughout these lessons, students will engage in their own learning and with their peers. These lessons include activities designed to get students active as well as actively thinking and learning about American history. Students will show focus on analyzing primary and secondary sources while evaluating themes.
